An excellent opportunity has arisen at Maxwell Hodge for an experienced Paralegal to join our Medical Negligence Team.

The position will be based at our Aintree Office: 9c Altway, Old Roan, Liverpool L10 3JA.

The Role

We are seeking applications from candidates who ideally have at least 2 years’ experience in Medical Negligence as the successful candidate will require the skills and knowledge to work independently on files. To achieve this, the successful candidate will have a genuine interest in Litigation, be able to work in a team, as well as independently, and have strong communication skills.

In addition, the successful candidate will require effective time management skills to prioritise work and meet deadlines and have a strong attention to detail.

Main Duties:

  1. Performing legal research to assist with case progression.
  2. Dealing with new enquiries and preparing initial paperwork.
  3. Preparing documents such as Letters of Claim and Witness Statements.
  4. Preparing Court forms such as Claim Forms and Certificates of Service.
  5. Preparing Instructions to experts and Counsel.
  6. Obtaining and reviewing medical records.
  7. Assisting the Team Leader, and other members of the Team, as and when required.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties. You will be expected to perform different tasks as necessary to fulfil your role and to help meet overall business aims and objectives.

The successful applicant will enjoy the autonomy of managing their own caseload whilst benefiting from the support of an experienced Team. There may also be occasional travel to any of our other offices to provide support or attend to clients.

Required Experience: at least 2 years’ experience in Medical Negligence.

Driving licence and own transport is an advantage

Job Type and Hours: Permanent, Full time (9am-5.15pm Mon-Thurs & 9am-5.00pm Fri)

Holidays and Salary: The salary on offer is competitive and negotiable depending on experience. Annual holiday entitlement is 20 days (plus the bank holidays and an additional 3 days to be taken between Christmas and New Year).
