During the past few years, and throughout lockdown, one of Liverpool’s longest established independent solicitors, Maxwell Hodge, chose to support Everton in the Community (“EitC”) as its ‘Charity of the Year’, which concluded at the end of 2022.
The company wanted to help raise funds for the charity’s permanent purpose-built mental health facility called The People’s Place.
Each year, one in four people experience poor mental health and those seeking support is at an all-time high as a result of the pandemic. The People’s Place, which officially opened its doors in March 2023, will provide positive mental health and wellbeing services to those seeking support, regardless of their age, gender or location to the facility. The facility will also offer support relating to suicide awareness and prevention as well as signposting individuals to the charity’s existing mental health programmes.
Kristina Stoddern and Jane Reid from Maxwell Hodge recently visited The People’s Place to present a cheque for the total amount the company raised, which was an amazing £5,672.93.
Andrew Duff, Everton in the Community’s Director of Income Generation, said “We are extremely appreciative to Maxwell Hodge for their continued support of our charity over the last few years and we thank them for this generous donation which will go a long way to helping those most in need in our community.
“Our ‘Charity of the Year’ relationships are a great way for businesses to work with a charity that aligns with their core values and ethos and help to make a difference through internal fundraising, hosting events or staff challenges. Maxwell Hodge have been really supportive of our work and we have enjoyed working closely with them.”
Maxwell Hodge Director Kristina added “We first got involved with EitC when The People’s Place was in the design phase. We felt that as the facility would provide vital mental health services to the community it was something we just had to support. It is so lovely to see The People’s Place up and running and they have already been supporting the community with services that are not really on offer elsewhere. We are proud to have supported this project.”
