The Ockenden Review into failings in maternity care at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust has been published today.

The enquiry into the failings in the maternity care provided at the Trust identifies that a large number of babies being born stillborn, dying shortly after birth or being left with brain damage were avoidable.

“It is an incredibly sad and emotional time for the families involved. The review makes some important recommendations and it is hoped that lessons will be learned to improve maternity safety at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust and across the NHS”.
